About us

group - Version 2We are the House of Hendrix, a family of where joy, imperfection, and grace abound. There are 5 of us; Jimmy, myself, Lily, Campbell and Palmer. I’m an outgoing introvert who keeps earplugs in the car because I’m easily overstimulated. My children seem to have more energy, louder voices, and get dirtier than other children. They fight and I raise my voice. We often have pancakes for dinner, and soup for breakfast. Despite my innate craving for order and organization, my house is usually a mess. Even at their most put together moments, my boys still appear disheveled…and I love it!

I have learned my family is not supposed to look like yours and, despite all of our imperfections, we have been blessed with great JOY. It is what I treasure most about our home.

I love to create and am continuously inspired.  I believe the thought behind a gift is more important than the gift itself. I like personal touches.  I enjoy cookie dough and consequently running. My favorite conversations occur when somebody is vulnerable.  I enjoy drinking a glass of wine with a friend, even though I don’t really like wine.  I met my husband when I was 12 but fell in love with him after college. When God created him, He made my perfect complement. Together we want to live our life as a beautiful offering to God. We are the House of Hendrix. The House of Hendrix

  1. Alli – You don’t know me I’m sure but I know who you are from TPS – I somehow saw one of your pins on pinterest today and stumbled across your blog – love it! I was especially moved by your post regarding the scary people at the homeless shelter. Love how you handled yourself and your children and did what was right. I want to have my kids serve people in this capacity and if you have any suggestions of places where kids are welcome to help I would love to hear about it!!
I also started a blog but not keeping it up like I should – life is busy with 3 as you know!!

      • Allison, I cam across a post from you on Pinterest. I am Karen Hendrix–and my Grandmother’s maiden name was Allison. It intrigued me so thought I would send a note. I am a genealogist and have extensive research on the Hendrix family, if you would like to e-mail me privately….

  2. I would love to see you do a blog post about the “waiting” milestones. Like for soft drinks. What others do you have and at what ages? Awesome idea to grow patience and longsuffering!

  3. I am always interested in people with my same last maiden name. We never met any of my Dad’s family…would y’all have relatives in St Louis??

  4. Hi Allison!

  5. I found my self having a terrible day until I ran across your blog. I decided to quit rolling in my self pity and take some of tips to heart! Thanks for the uplifting blog!!!

      • Your blog is a great find. I saw a Facebook post and now will tell you I find your writings delightful! I am grandma to 3 boys, ages 7, 9, and 11 and life is always crazy at the Adams’ family household. They are away at a beach vacation this week, so reading the ” you might be a mom of boys if..” article makes me miss them after only 3 days! Your “girlfriends” article was meaningful and I will be sharing it tonight at my Beta Sigma Phi sorority meeting with my girlfriends ages 60 to 83! I will tell you that as you get older, these relationships will grow sweeter and the bonds will be unbelievable. Have a glorious, blessed day!

  14. Hey there Allison. Love your blog and your story. Your About Us section describes my family here and there. I’m thankful that I’m finally learning that I don’t have to duplicate my super-mom friends, but instead love the life, and all its nutty-ness, God has blessed me with. Your writing is beautiful. ~ Dori

  15. Hi Allison!
I found your blog via Pinterest today and you had me at the words “channel changer.” My husband has ALWAYS called it that, and and until today, I had never heard anyone else use it! We are busy parents of three also, and embracing all of the fun and chaos that comes along with it, so I totally enjoyed catching up on your blog!
    Be blessed!
    Lisa

  16. Hey, I just found your blog through Pinterest and my maiden name is Hendrix which isn’t the most common name! I live in Arkansas and most of my dad’s family does too, I am curious if we might be related! I’m entering my email addy below if you want to contact me. I’m enjoying your blog and the coincidence as well!

  17. Hi Allison, I just wanted to thank you for the suggestions we can do on Memorial Day on Pinterest. I was looking for suggestions and all I got was crafts or recipes. Your suggestions on how to support veterans came up and I was so happy that someone is thinking about the true meaning of this important holiday.

    • It says so much about you that you wanted to do something more, and kept looking. I have had many relatives serve our country, and with that comes the death of many of their ‘brothers’. Thank you for honoring the people who gave their life for us.

Tell me what you think...
