Summer has reminded me that kids are highly creative…when there’s not a screen involved or a rush to get to the next activity.
This afternoon they created a game called
Train Inventory
Here’s how to play.
- Take inventory of every train piece and block by SORTING, MATCHING, and GROUPING them into various piles.
- COUNT and WRITE down how many of each piece there are. (I created a printable for this below).
- One person begins building a train track while the other manages the inventory. “I need a short curved piece, please.” TEAMWORK
- They created a master plan for the track based on how many of each pieces remained. (MATH, PROBLEM SOLVING)
I was delighted as they explained the rules of Train Inventory to me. If you have a train lover or child who simply loves to organize, feel free to download the printable below.
